Yes. Our workmanship is warranted for 90 days from the invoice date; replacement parts carry their manufacturer's warranty. After the diagnosis we explain what we found and give you a written estimate before any repair.

How soon can you come if my generator stops working?

Call us at (213) 693-0224: we fit urgent repairs in as soon as we can, Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM. We come to your slip, dock or storage yard for no-start, power loss and fuel problems, and you get a written estimate before any repair starts.

Can you test load and voltage output during diagnostics?

Yes. We load the generator up to its rated output with the boat's own A/C units, water heater and galley loads, and measure voltage and frequency at the panel to check that it holds steady power.

How much does generator repair usually cost?

Labor is $150 an hour, plus the trip fee for work at your boat ($30 in San Pedro up to $110 in Newport Beach). Finding the fault usually takes about an hour; then you get a written estimate for the repair, and nothing is done without your OK.

Can you flush and clean the cooling system during repair?

Yes – we perform full coolant flushes, clean raw water strainers, and descale heat exchangers. A clean cooling system helps prevent overheating and prolongs generator life.

Back-End (Electrical)

Engine running but no power? We troubleshoot the "Back End." We test capacitors, diodes, voltage regulators (AVR), and rotor/stator windings to restore proper 120V/240V output.

Cooling Systems

Generators are prone to overheating. We replace seawater impellers, descale heat exchangers (acid flush), and replace mixing elbows to prevent the "Overheat Shutdown" that kills your A/C at night.

Output Check

We measure Voltage (AC) and Frequency (Hz) at the panel. Low voltage damages appliances; low frequency indicates engine governor issues.

Cooling Audit

We check water flow at the exhaust. A weak stream means a dying impeller or a clogged heat exchanger. We verify the temperature differential across the core.

Sensor Logic

Generators shut down to protect themselves. We test the oil pressure switch, coolant temp sensor, and exhaust temp sensor to see if it's a real failure or a bad sensor.

Load Test

We load the generator up to its rated output with the boat's A/C units, water heater and stove. If the voltage sags more than 5% or the frequency drifts away from 60 Hz, we check the governor and the voltage regulator (AVR).

Common Questions

Why does my generator run but make no power?

This is usually a failed capacitor or voltage regulator (AVR). The engine is fine, but the "Back End" isn't excited. We can often fix this without removing the unit.

Why does it shut off after 5 minutes?

This is the classic "Safety Shutdown." It's likely overheating due to a bad impeller, or the oil pressure sensor is faulty. The computer kills the engine to save it.
