About this service

Mobile Boat Repair in Los Angeles and Orange County

A mobile boat mechanic saves you the trip to a yard. We come to your slip, dock or storage yard from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach and repair the boat where it is kept. If a job needs our San Pedro shop, we agree that with you before any work starts.

What the work covers

Many repairs can be traced and finished at the dock:

  • Engines: outboards, sterndrives and inboards that will not start, run rough or overheat, with the details on our boat engine repair page.
  • Electrical: batteries, charging, wiring, switches, pumps and lights.
  • Fuel and cooling: fuel lines and filters, water pumps and impellers.
  • Hull: gelcoat chips and cosmetic cracks above the waterline; structural damage goes to a boatyard.
  • Routine service: oil, filters and seasonal checks on your engine maker's schedule.

Some work needs more room or equipment than a slip allows. For that, we can quote dock-to-shop boat transport to our San Pedro shop as part of our local service. Other dockside jobs are on the mobile boat service page, and the full range of repairs is under boat repair.

When a mobile visit makes sense

  • The boat will not start and you would rather not tow it
  • The battery keeps going flat between trips
  • The boat is in a storage yard and you have no way to tow it
  • A bilge pump, light or gauge has stopped working
  • Routine service is due and the boat is already in its slip

What to have ready

Tell us the boat's make, length and engine type, the marina name with the dock and slip number, and what the problem is and when it started. Make sure we can get to the boat, and let us know if the slip has shore power.

Questions about mobile boat repair

Can you repair my outboard at the dock?

Yes. When you book, give us the make, model and horsepower along with the symptoms, so we can bring the right parts.

Do you work on boats in storage yards?

Yes. Tell us the yard and where the boat sits, and check that we can get in at the agreed time.
