About this service
Insurance and Warranty Boat Repairs in Long Beach and San Pedro
We repair boats damaged in a collision, storm or grounding, and boats with faults that may fall under a warranty, at your slip, dock or storage yard from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach, or at our San Pedro shop; structural and hull repairs are done by a boatyard we work with or refer you to. We also prepare what a claim usually needs: photos, inspection findings and a written estimate.
What the work covers
- Inspection and findings: photos and a written report of what we found, including damage that may not show at first and, where we can tell, the likely cause.
- Written estimate: the repair and its cost, for you to send to your insurer or warranty provider.
- Repair: done once you OK the estimate, with an invoice and a record of the work for your claim file.
Related services include collision damage assessment, estimates after a sinking and fiberglass repair. Coverage, deductibles and payment are set by your policy or warranty, so confirm them with your insurer or provider before work starts. You pay our invoice, and the claim stays between you and your insurer or warranty provider.
When to call
- After a collision, hard docking or grounding
- After storm damage, or when the boat has taken on water
- When a part fails that may still be under warranty
What to have ready for a claim
If the boat is taking on water or anyone is in danger, call the Coast Guard on VHF channel 16 or 911 first. Take photos before anything is moved or cleaned, and limit further damage where it is safe, such as by pumping out water. Insurers usually ask for a written estimate, and some send a marine surveyor before they approve the work. For a warranty claim, have the hull identification number, engine serial numbers, bill of sale and service records ready. Keep copies of every report, invoice and message.
Questions about insurance and warranty repairs
Can you tell me if the damage is covered?
No. Only your insurer or warranty provider can decide that. Our photos, findings and estimate give them a clear record to work from.
Can you do the repair under my warranty?
It depends on the terms. Boat builders, engine makers and extended plans differ. Some only pay for work done by the maker's own dealers, and we are not a dealer for any brand. Many also want to approve a repair first. We can inspect the fault and write it up either way.
Book a visit: submit a ticket with the boat, where it is kept and what happened, or call (213) 693-0224.
