Do high-intensity underwater LED lights improve night visibility around the boat?

Yes. Bright underwater LEDs light the water around the hull, which helps when docking, boarding or swimming at night. They do not replace your navigation lights.

Can you install underwater LED lights directly at my slip in Marina del Rey or Long Beach?

Not the lights themselves: they mount on or through the hull below the waterline, so the boat has to be out of the water, during a haul-out at a boatyard or on its trailer for a trailer boat. The wiring, switches and controls can be done at your slip, with a one-way trip fee by distance for each visit: $50 or $60 in Long Beach, depending on the marina, and $85 in Marina del Rey.

Are these underwater LEDs safe for Pacific saltwater and heavy marine growth?

Yes. The fixtures we install are sealed, made from corrosion-resistant materials and built for saltwater. Marine growth still builds up on the lens, so it needs cleaning with the hull, and it is masked when the bottom is painted.

Will high-intensity underwater LEDs drain my batteries when anchored overnight?

They can. High-output underwater lights draw a few amps each, so a set left on all night can run down a house battery bank. We check your battery capacity and charging when we plan the job, put the lights on their own breaker and keep them off the engine-starting battery. Switch them off, or use a timer, when you don't need them.

Can you replace my old halogen underwater lights with new LED units?

Yes. We replace old halogen or failed fixtures with LED units, often in the existing hull openings so no new holes are needed. Through-hull fixtures are changed with the boat out of the water.

How many lumens do underwater lights need for clear illumination in California marinas?

It depends on the boat, the water and the look you want. Most recreational boats use a few fixtures in the low thousands of lumens each; larger yachts use higher-output fixtures. We size the number and output of the lights to the boat, the water in your marina and what your batteries can support.

Do you offer color-changing underwater LED lighting for nighttime ambience?

Yes — we install RGB and full-spectrum color-changing underwater lights with wireless remotes, smartphone control, or helm-mounted switches.

Design & Layout

We help you choose the right number of fixtures and beam angles for your beam width. We measure carefully to ensure symmetrical spacing of the transom lights.

Drilling & Sealing

With the boat out of the water, we drill the required penetrations in the hull. We apply generous amounts of marine sealant to both the fixture and the hull to create a watertight barrier.

Wire Routing

We invisibly fish the power wires through the bilge and bulkheads to your DC distribution panel, ensuring chafe protection on all runs.

Integration & Testing

We connect the lights to a dedicated breaker and your chosen controller (switch or Poco module), testing all colors and modes before finalizing the job.

Is it safe to drill into my hull?

Yes, when it is done right and with the boat out of the water. We check the hull thickness and construction, look for internal obstructions, and use sealants designed for permanent underwater use to seal each fitting against leaks.

Will these drain my battery?

Modern LEDs are incredibly efficient compared to old halogens. While high-output lights do draw significant current, we ensure your house battery bank and wiring are sufficient to handle the load.
