Boat Polishing in Long Beach and San Pedro

We polish and protect boat finishes at your slip, dock or storage yard from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach, or at our San Pedro shop. Sun and salt air dull gelcoat over time. Polishing brings back the shine, and a protective finish helps keep it.

What the work covers

  • Boat polishing that removes oxidation, restores the shine and protects the finish.
  • Marine ceramic coating and nano-protection: a hard protective layer over a well-prepared surface. It often lasts longer than wax and makes washing easier.
  • Bottom painting and antifouling is a separate service, done out of the water: at our San Pedro shop for trailer boats up to 26 ft, $55 a foot with paint included; bigger boats get a written quote for the work at a boatyard.

How much work the gelcoat needs depends on how far the oxidation has gone. We look at the finish and agree the job with you before we start. Polishing is part of our boat renovation work, along with upholstery and flooring.

Signs your boat needs polishing

  • Gelcoat that looks chalky, faded or dull
  • A white residue comes off on your hand when you rub the hull
  • Water no longer beads on the surface
  • Stains and streaks that washing does not remove

Questions about boat polishing

How often should a boat be polished?

It depends on how much sun the boat gets, whether it is covered and how often it is washed. When water stops beading or the finish starts to look dull, the protection is wearing off.

Is a ceramic coating worth it over wax?

A ceramic coating usually lasts longer than wax and makes the boat easier to keep clean. It needs a clean, polished surface underneath, so it goes on after polishing. We can look at your finish and quote both.

Book a visit: submit a ticket with the boat, where it is kept and what the finish looks like, or call (562) 542-7296.
