Marine Electronics and Audio Installation in Long Beach and San Pedro

We install and integrate marine electronics and audio at your slip, dock or storage yard from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach. That covers chartplotters, radar, fishfinders, autopilots and sound systems, wired and networked so they work together at the helm.

What the work covers

Good electronics work depends on the wiring behind the dash: marine-grade wire, a fused feed for each device and labeled cables that are easy to trace later. Parts are quoted with the job.

When to call

  • You are replacing an old plotter or adding radar
  • Displays that do not show engine data, depth or heading
  • A fishfinder with a weak or noisy picture
  • An autopilot that wanders off course or will not hold a heading
  • Speakers that crackle, cut out or get lost under engine noise

Questions about marine electronics installation

Will new electronics work with my older ones?

Often, yes. Many units share data over NMEA 2000 or the older NMEA 0183, and some need an adapter or gateway. We check what you have before the job is quoted.

Does an autopilot install need a sea trial?

Yes. The setup starts at the dock, then the compass and steering response are calibrated underway, so part of the job happens on the water.

Book a visit: submit a ticket with the boat, the equipment you have or want, and where it is kept, or call (562) 542-7296.

    #1325 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Will you show me how to use it?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Yes. Before we leave, we walk you through the main screens and settings, including the radar, the sonar and the engine data pages.

    #1323 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Do I need a heading sensor for radar overlay?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Yes. Radar overlay and MARPA target tracking need a heading sensor, so the radar picture lines up with the chart as the boat turns. When your system needs one, we install and calibrate it as part of the job.

  3. User avatar

    #1321 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

How long does installation take, and what does it cost?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Usually 4 to 8 hours of labor for a typical system; bigger systems take longer. Labor is $150 an hour, plus parts and the trip fee for work at your boat, and your written estimate shows the hours, parts and trip fee before we start.

    #1319 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Will new electronics work with what I already have on board?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Often, yes. Most current gear shares data over NMEA 2000, and older NMEA 0183 devices can usually be connected through a converter. Tell us what you have on board, and we check compatibility before you buy anything new.

  5. User avatar

    #1317 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

    Does installing a transducer need a haul-out?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

A through-hull transducer does, and the boatyard charges separately for the haul-out; that charge is listed on your estimate. An in-hull transducer, glued inside the hull, can be installed with the boat in the water, and so can a transom mount whose screws sit above the waterline; we never drill below the waterline with the boat in the water.

    #1315 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Can you connect electronics from different brands?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Basic data such as position, depth, heading and engine data usually share over NMEA 2000. Radar and sonar pictures usually only share between screens of the same brand, so we check compatibility before you buy.

  7. User avatar

    #1313 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

What does chartplotter, radar and fishfinder integration include?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

We mount the displays, radar and transducer, run and protect the cables, wire power with the right fuses, and connect everything: the maker's own network for radar and sonar, and NMEA 2000 (or NMEA 0183 on older gear) for heading, depth and engine data, so it all shows on the plotter. Then we set it up and test it on the water.

    #1311 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Can installing an autopilot improve fuel efficiency?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

It can help a little. A properly calibrated autopilot holds a steady course with fewer steering corrections, which can save some fuel on long runs and gives a smoother ride.

  9. User avatar

    #1309 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Do you test the autopilot on the water after installation?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Absolutely. Sea trials are a critical part of calibration. We fine-tune the system under real operating conditions to ensure accurate steering response and smooth course tracking.

  10. User avatar

    #1307 Common question asks Dec 21, 2025

Can the autopilot integrate with my existing navigation electronics?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 21, 2025

Usually. Most current autopilots connect over NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 and use heading, GPS and wind data from other instruments. Mixing brands can limit features, such as controlling the autopilot from another brand's chartplotter, so we check compatibility with your equipment before you buy.
