Boat Renovation in Long Beach and San Pedro

We renovate the parts of a boat you see and touch on every trip: the finish, the bottom, the seats and the floor. We do the work at your slip, dock or storage yard from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach, or at our San Pedro shop.

What the work covers

Signs your boat is due for renovation

  • Gelcoat that looks chalky, faded or dull
  • Worn bottom paint or growth on the hull
  • Torn vinyl, split seams or cushions that stay damp
  • Deck surfaces that are worn, stained or slippery when wet
  • A boat you want to enjoy again, or get ready to sell

Questions about boat renovation

Can renovation be done in stages?

Yes. You can start with the part that bothers you most, such as the finish or the seats, and plan the rest later. We agree each job with you before work starts.

What should come first?

Repairs usually come before cosmetic work. Cracks and chips in the gelcoat should be fixed before polishing or coating, and a torn seat should be repaired before water soaks the foam.

Book a visit: submit a ticket with the boat, where it is kept and what you would like to renovate, or call (562) 542-7296.

    #1480 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Can professional polishing make maintenance easier?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Definitely. A polished surface resists dirt and water spots, making routine cleaning faster and easier while keeping your boat looking pristine for longer periods.

Do you also remove oxidation during the polishing process?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Yes. Removing oxidation is the main part of the job: we compound where needed, polish the gloss back and finish with wax or sealant, which helps slow new oxidation.

  3. User avatar

    #1476 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

How long does a professional boat polish take?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

It depends on the boat's size and how oxidized the finish is: a few hours for a small boat with light dullness, one to several days for a larger boat or heavy oxidation that needs compounding. We polish a test section first and put the expected hours in your written estimate before we start.

  4. User avatar

    #1474 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Can polishing protect my boat from saltwater and UV damage?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Absolutely. After polishing, we apply protective wax or sealant, which creates a barrier against salt, UV rays, and environmental contaminants, extending the life of your boat’s finish.

  5. User avatar

    #1472 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Does polishing remove scratches or swirl marks?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Yes, polishing removes minor surface scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation, leaving a smooth, glossy finish and preparing the surface for wax or protective coating.

    #1470 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

How often should I have my boat polished?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

It depends on how much sun the boat gets, whether it is covered and how quickly the finish dulls. Compounding removes a little gelcoat each time, so we polish when oxidation comes back and renew the wax in between; when water stops beading on the hull, the wax is usually gone.

  7. User avatar

    #1468 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Why should I polish my boat regularly?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Regular polishing removes oxidation, light scratches and water spots and brings back the shine, and the wax that follows helps protect the gelcoat or paint from UV and salt.

  8. User avatar

    #1466 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Can upholstery repair improve comfort on long trips?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Usually, yes. Flattened or waterlogged foam is the main reason a seat feels uncomfortable, so new foam makes the biggest difference, and we also check the seat base under the cushion for rot or flex.

  9. User avatar

    #1464 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

Do you offer custom designs for new upholstery?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Yes. For new covers you choose the marine vinyl or fabric, the colors and the stitch pattern, and we measure and stitch each cover to fit. The materials and the price are on your written estimate before work starts.

    #1462 Common question asks Dec 25, 2025

    Are your upholstery materials water-resistant?

    1. User avatar

Fryderyk Florczak answers Dec 25, 2025

Yes. The marine-grade vinyl and fabrics we use are made to resist water, UV and salt, and for cockpit cushions we can use foam that drains and dries faster. Rinsing off salt and covering the seats when the boat is not in use helps them last.
