Common Questions

Can I un-jam it myself?

Some pumps have a rear slot for a screwdriver to turn the shaft by hand; switch off the pump's breaker first. If that doesn't work, the pump usually needs removal. It is a messy blackwater system repair best left to pros.

Why did it fail?

The most common causes are running the pump dry (burning the impeller) and flushing non-biodegradable items like wet wipes down the boat toilet, which bind the chopper blade and leave you with a clogged waste pump.
