Volvo Penta IPS & Sterndrive Certified Service
The Volvo Penta
Authority.
IPS Pods and Sterndrives are engineering marvels that require more than basic tools. We use proprietary VODIA diagnostic software and certified protocols to keep your advanced propulsion systems performing flawlessly.
VODIA Diagnostics
The "check engine" light on a Volvo Penta requires the official VODIA diagnostic tool. We plug directly into your EVC (Electronic Vessel Control) to read fault codes, update software, and calibrate shifters.
IPS Pod Service
We specialize in the complex Inboard Performance System (IPS). From replacing the dual forward-facing props to servicing the steering actuators and replacing the critical pod seals.
Sterndrive Care
For Aquamatic (SX/DPS) owners, we handle the essentials: bellows replacement, gimbal bearing service, and DuoProp cone clutch adjustment to ensure smooth shifting and water-tight integrity.
The Certified Standard.
Following the factory maintenance schedule.
Digital Health Check
We begin every service by connecting the VODIA laptop to check engine hours, fault history, and sensor data to spot issues before they become failures.
Fluid & Filter Tech
We use only genuine Volvo Penta filters and synthetic oils. For IPS drives, we change the gear oil and inspect the magnetic plugs for metal shavings.
Seal Integrity
A leaking pod seal can sink a boat. We pressure test the drive units to ensure the shaft seals and O-rings are holding tight against seawater intrusion.
Calibration
After service, we perform a sea trial to re-calibrate the joystick docking system and verify that the EVC system is communicating correctly with the drives.
Complex Systems, Simplified.
Expert care for your drivetrain.

Common Questions
Why do I need VODIA?
Standard OBD scanners cannot read marine codes. VODIA is the only tool that can access the proprietary Volvo Penta ECU to diagnose advanced faults and perform software updates.
How often do IPS seals need changing?
Volvo Penta recommends inspecting seals annually. Complete resealing is often recommended every 5 years or if any water intrusion is detected in the gear oil analysis.
