Transom Structural Repair & Reinforcement
The Foundation
of Your Boat.
A rotting transom is a catastrophic failure waiting to happen. We rebuild it stronger than factory new, using materials that will never rot again.
Signs of Failure
Look for stress cracks in the gelcoat corners, rust stains around engine bolts, or visible flexing when you trim the motor. These are signs the wood core inside is wet and rotting.
No More Wood
We replace the old plywood core with high-density Coosa Bluewater composite board. It is lighter, stronger, and completely impervious to water and rot.
Lifetime Fix
Our rebuilds are bonded with high-strength epoxy resin and multi-axial fiberglass, creating a monolithic structure that will outlast the rest of the boat.
The Rebuild Process.
A major surgery to save your vessel.
Demolish
We remove the engine and cut away the inner fiberglass skin to expose and remove the rotten wood core.
Prep
The outer skin is ground clean and prepped. A new Coosa composite core is cut to fit perfectly.
Bond
The new core is bedded into the transom with structural epoxy putty, eliminating all air voids.
Glass
We lay up multiple layers of bi-axial fiberglass over the new core, restoring the inner skin to massive strength.
Stronger Than New.
Seeing is believing. From rot to rock-solid.
Advanced Materials.
We use only the best composites for a permanent repair.
Common Questions
How do I know if my transom is bad?
The "tap test" is a good start. Tap the transom with a hammer handle; a sharp "tink" is good, a dull "thud" usually means rot. Visible flexing is a definite failure.
Can you just inject resin into it?
No. "Pourable" transom repairs are a temporary band-aid. You cannot bond to wet, rotten wood. The only permanent fix is to remove the rot completely.
